Gho Clan of Pulau Tello

During the Inauguration of the Traditional Meeting Hall of Baruyu Lasara Village, Chief Amabuate mentioned in his speech about their Heritage that around the year 1835, one of their Chief’s daughters was married to a Chinese in Kampung Tionghoa of Pasar Pulau Tello. She was then honored with the title of “Nyonya Gadang”, which means “Lady from the Big House” (Chief’s House.).

The Chinese Gentleman was non other than our Great Grand Father Gho Ka Tjai from the Hok Kian province in China.

They have in total 10 children (seven sons and three daughters) as listed in the previous Blog (in Indonesian Language). Some of their Grandchildren names were mentioned in the Blog, to give the younger generation of their descendants a possibility to find out to which Family Tree they belong.. (Many of the descendants do not know anymore how they are related to each other.).

One of the sons (no 5), by the name of Gho Sim Tiok visited his children in Medan just before the 2^nd worldwar (around 1940?). Shown in the picture are his daughter Tan Bee Yong with her family and his son Gho Tiauw Ho with his family. The other man in the picture is his nephew Gho Tiauw Hong with his family.
